I had waterproof boots hiking across Alaska once. They sucked when it rained. Water came in and didn't have any way to escape. Never again.

I can only assume the average person buying waterproof boots doesn't do much outside when it is raining

What's the intended use case for this boot if it isn't waterproof or insulated? Why not just a regular shoe that doesn't go so high up?
