We didn't like this at all. It's really NOT a calendar.

This is better as a companion to a real calendar. Your child can pick out the day, weather, etc.

But without seeing an ACTUAL CALENDAR, it's really hard to understand concepts like "what days come next?", "how many days until ____?", etc.

We have one, and my 5 year old loves it. However, amazon 3rd party has these listed around $17 new. Still a good product for a good price.

Ours was purchased in 2019 for $14.44 and is still getting use with our youngest (a kindergartner). We've had to resort to manually written years (since you only get a few with the set) but otherwise it serves as a great companion to a traditional calender to provide your child a way to interact with and become more invested in their daily schedule. What month is it? What is the date? Some of answers to these questions can be referred back to the traditional calendars while others can be inferred directly from this toy. Like so many Melissa and Doug toys this calendar can be treated as a long-term investment in positive interaction and learning.

I'd pair this with a traditional calendar in the same way that I have kept both an analog and digital clock next to each other in my home. This doesn't replace a traditional calendar, but rather creates a structure around which the calendar can be made meaningful for your child.

Good luck!
Jon

I have this used for 6 year old. This combined with days of the week songs helped her learn. For the 1 year old it's simply things to rip off the wall and throw but one day he will learn too. Great price and cheaper than I paid.

I got it for my then two year old three years ago… I wish I'd waited because now the vast majority of the magnets are lost. She loves it, but it is annoying that we don't have enough magnets to actually use it.
