I have this - it is a cheap microscope - but it's still an actual functional microscope.
It's a nice kit - comes with some premade slides and is perfect to explain things like hair, skin cells, insects to little ones.
tip: buy some disposable lens wipes (cheap at walmart, others) because giving a kid a microscope and expecting that they won't hit the lens with the samples is impossible and cheap lenses scratch easily from paper towels etc

You sure on that? Seems like having a battery, lights, and multiple zoom options would lead me to believe this is a legit (kid quality) microscope.
