These make great monitors. I'm using one right now.

I've had TCL's throughout the house for several years and not had a failure yet. A 55" 4-series, two 42" 4-series and a 65" 6-series in the main living room. All are Roku interface and are still going strong!

Does it auto turn on or do you need to turn it on each time?

This feature is usually included with "CEC" enabled TVs 👍

I work from home in IT. Is it this particular model or the same model line that you've used as a monitor?

Can anybody comment how this compares to the Pioneer PN43-751-24U deal at Bestbuy?

If based on what is advertised, the TCL is better. The Pioneer doesn't claim to have as many features. The only advantage I see for the Pioneer is that it has eARC/ARC. Its good if you like to have sound come out of a sound system using one HDMI cable instead of having two separate cable for Video and Audio. With eARC, you should get better sound, but my ears don't really hear like that.

We have 4 Sam's within 1 hour and 1 Costco here. Virginia
We have no Costcos within 2 hours of me...that I know of anyway. I think Chicago is the closest...126 miles away

I do not game and use a cheap fanless 4k video card.

I access my job through VMWare and watch YouTube (often at the same time) and it's fine for those tasks

I had the Pioneer back in May last year and took it back to Best Buy. It's fine as a TV but text is just not sharp enough when using it as a monitor.

How was the brightness on pioneer. On Rtings, this TCL has very low brightness.

Ok, not relevant, but why are there 21 Costcos within an hour drive and 1 Sam's club
In a smaller northeast Texas city, i have 1 Sam's club & no Costco.

I'm in a fairly dark space so my issue is not lack of brightness, it's more about having a level of light that isn't too much over a 12 hour day. I find the TCL is really good at that.
