I tried both (recertified S2 and brand new S2e) and ended up keeping the S2e. To my (very untrained) ears, they sounded clearer and had better separation with certain genres - especially heavy metal. Maybe confirmation bias though after watching some YouTube videos lol.
For most of the music I listened to when comparing, though, they sounded pretty much identical.
My wife has the Sony M5's, I thought they were good, I'd go with these from Costco for the lower price
They were blowing $20K for me to attend this conference, so the headphones were a drop in the bucket.
Built quality is better . I was not fan of m5

I'd save my money and buy different cans. I ended up trying out the AKG N9 Hybrid headphones a month ago and ended up loving them. Multi connect works astoundingly well, has a USB-C dongle that hasn't had any issues (there were firmware updates for the headphones and dongle out of the box, which were annoying to apply but great operation since), the USB-C dongle has a holster in the headphones, sound quality is fantastic (LDAC for BOTH Bluetooth connections), battery life is insane, noise cancelling works pretty well, the talk aware mode is extremely helpful/impressive, and they're pretty darn comfortable. Maybe after a few hours I need a minute break but with a big head I'm shocked how much I love these headphones.
Long story short: you can do much better than the Px7 S2.
