Everything is marketed around fear with babies now. You need this safer car seat with more features, you need a $400 breathable crib mattress, better yet you need the $1700 snoo that locks the baby in place to reduce sids, you then need the $300 baby sock to monitor his heart rate for alerts. Don't forget the endless amount of different swaddles, chairs, and toys!
That's so wild how much this is. We had a Recaro once we moved to convertible, and Chicco for the infant car seat. They were certainly expensive at the time, but man, this seems a bit much. Sure, you want the best and safest for your child, but wow.

All my friends with younger kids do swear by the SNOO? Tech for baby stuff has really changed in the past 10+ years.
Inflation is killer, too. And you certainly pay more for these premium brands that don't spray fire retardant on the materials. Just depends on whether that's worthwhile to you. I'm lucky enough to have enough disposable income that a couple hundred extra dollars to keep my kid away from some extra chemicals and make them more comfortable is worth it to me.

As for the SNOO, I actually got one but have not used it quite yet (check back in a few months). I bought mine secondhand for $400 and replaced the mattress, though. $1500+ is a little too steep.

The dumbing down of society necessitates it.

Just a comment on the SNOO, they are now charging a subscription fee to use the advanced features... something about it was always in their terms of service that they. You can manually sideload the old version of the app and still get full functionality for free.

Just picked up a Graco slimfit3 lx based on the glowing reviews for about half the price of this. Will report back on how it is if anyone is interested
