And of course Valve just sits back and refuses to do anything about it, despite the fact that they own the platform where it's happening and it's reflecting badly upon them as well. Now it's spread to other forums, like Stardew Valley of all games.
Edit: OK, after doing a little searching, seems maybe I'm getting some details mixed up. Looks like it was Kane & Lynch's developer IO Interactive who pressured GameSpot (or probably more properly CBS) to fire an editor for giving the game a bad review. Seems Sony also allegedly threatened the same thing over the Ratchet and Clank reboot according to the fired editor. Sadly the supporting links seem to be dead, but the one below still works.
Could have sworn there was something about Eidos and Deus Ex, but considering this all happened 20ish-years ago I suppose it's not unreasonable to expect some details get mixed up. Anyway, moral of the story still stands. The industry is pressuring game review sites behind the scenes on big budget games and BioWare seems to have taken the next logical (mis)step and extended its retaliation policy to paying customers. So, everyone still excited for the next Mass Effect game knowing all this?
