Microcenter has all the M3 iMacs discounted to $799 for in-store pickup. This is the upgraded model with the 10-core gpu, gigabit Ethernet, Touch ID, and 2 usb-c + 2 thunderbolt ports. I managed to find an open-box for $599, but ymmv.

Personally I'd avoid the 8gb versions. If I was budget constrained, I'd rather get a M4 Mac Mini (16GB RAM) and a 4k monitor for a similar price.

Same. Much better deal than this iMac.

For simple use cases like browsing, emails, media consumption the 8GB is fine and the 5k apple monitor will scale and look better than a $200 4k monitor.

Why do you need an Apple 5k monitor to "browse and do email?"

You guys do this every deal. If your use case is that simple you don't need to be spending $800.

Being that the latest iMac with m4 chip is $1399 new ... this is an absolutely great deal on a new iMac with older m3 chip. Has the upgraded speakers, ethernet port, touch ID keyboard.

You can sell off the magic mouse and keyboard (with built-in finger print reader) and recover $150 - $200.

Why didn't you add media consumption into your quote? The same reason people spend $2000 for a TV. 5k monitors alone are worth like $800+.

These iMacs have a "4.5K" display, not 5K, and subjectively I find that a larger, 27-32" 4K display looks as good or better than the display on this machine.
