Thanks OP, alternatively, there is also the EVO Limited version in S3 that seems to have the newer AXS wireless shifting with suspension Kashina Coating.

https://www.jensonusa.com/Special...y-LTD-Bike

Same pricing as standard EVO.
Sorry, but this poor and ill informed advice. The only difference between the frames across the years is paint job. Same geometry, etc.

The bike you linked to is SRAM NX build, which is a pretty mediocre groupset at best. Whereas the OP is a mix of SLX/XT which is way better and closer to SRAM GX/X0. The Jenson also has better dropper post and is overall easily the better deal.

The true Slickdeal was when these were on clearance for $3k: https://www.specialized.com/us/en...420-199211

It looks like Jenson probably built up some of these frames with in house component stock - hence the "Jenson Bike" moniker. If you can find the Elite build at your LBS for $3k, then that's a slick deal.

Not worth it. I believe this bike is the 2022 model or at best a 23' model. I bought my 24 evo comp alloy for 2700 few months ago. Most places were selling them for 2999 though. I just called stores that had it in stock and asked them their pricing on it. If you manage to find a LBS that has it in stock, they'll pricematch with specialized website.

Agree with the frame/geometry/paint job comment. Future resell value would be impacted. In the used market older age = lower price. Older age assumed more miles. But a savvy cyclist would see check the specs, condition, upkeep.

Seems a little like the bike industry is suffering the same post pandemic demand issues the home fitness industry did, just a bit more delayed.

Personally I'm glad to see things coming a bit more back to earth. Painful for some vendors but dumb to say they couldn't see it coming. Great for riders and maybe manufacturers will start targeting value a bit more vs seemingly trying to push everyone into upper tiers.

It is "a lot" of bike for someone not convinced will go deep. If you don't have a friend or group of friends to show you the ropes and/or already advised you to get no-less-than an all-mountain bike like this, I'd recommend something closer to the regular (non Evo) Stumpjumper, as it will be a bit easier to pedal and the lesser travel makes it more responsive. Should also be a bit lighter.

If $ is not a big issue - within the context of this sport in 2025 - and you want a REALLY good bike, I would probably gravitate more towards the Pivot 429. Also a 2-3 year old model that they replaced with the Trailcat now, BUT, a more sophisticated rear suspension and IMHO better all-around trail geo for most people. At 40%+ off @ Jenson and others now, it is as low as people asking for used ones. More expensive than the alloy evo cause it's carbon, and Pivot is way more boutique than Specialized, but IMHO this is a more refined bike (and the Trailcat is supposed to be even better, but hey, perfect is the enemy of good, and this is probably close to the best all-around trail bike already).

Funny that ppl sh!t on Shimano.
I still think Shimano is way better than Sram for anything other than XO/XX1 and that's for the weight alone. Shimano shifts better under load and it's much cheaper and just as strong as X0/XX. They don't do true wireless electronic shifting but...so what?

Also Sram seems to have the worst brakes of the bunch that also require the most maintainance, and their latest maivens are almost unanimously reported as inconsistent and vague. The worst possible scenario for otherwise the most powerful units that should require the higher finesse.

Good take 👏 I'm debating the 2 models on sale and may just go old reliable shimano build!

Jenson also has all the GT bikes 50% off. There is another posted deal on one of them on Slickdeals. For about the same price or less, there are GT carbon frame (vs alloy) trail/all-mountain and enduro bikes. No wireless shifting though and different components.
