What do you expect out of $20 software? I don't care what software I'm using, I stay informed of the tax laws to maximize my refund and use the software simply for the easy data calculation and form backup. Hold!!
You can run scenarios, run through the tax savings calculators along with just browsing the extensive built in help and reference included. You can even copy an existing return and play with the second to see them kind of side by side to see how moving money and other tax strategies affects your return. These are all things online versions that cost more do not do.
It is also is great that I can do a family's worth of returns for $20 plus amend any of them free all in one interface without having to create multiple online accounts.
It is the online crowd that has the get it done and ignore it till next year, file it and forget it mentality that costs so many people so much money as they do not pay attention th to their tax situations to find ways to save and increase personal wealth.
You followed the lead and lies of someone that misinformed you. You have some picture in you mid about this product that is not real. That is not smart, do your own research before just believing some totally incorrect chatter posted in an online forum. Every tax deal thread I see on her has so much misinformation and confusion that my heart drops for the average taxpayer.
The installed version while cheap is by far the more powerful product and fits the description for what you say you are looking for. Paying more does not always get you more.
It does appear that FreeTax USA will do all situations but if If you need to file state FreeTaxUSA at a minimum is going to cost $15 and that is not much off this price. If you need real support that will add $40. If you make mistake and need an amendment that is going to cost again. There are is a long list of upcharges.
I just find the installed version to do so much more that fairly small cost difference is well worth it. Many people ignore the ability to do unlimited returns in the installed version along with many other features.
If in Bock I use the five federal efiles and mail in state, I can do five sets of returns for a $4.60 per set, total of $23. The same on FreeTaxUSA would cost $15 per set, total of $60.
In the case of FreeTax USA you would get both fed and state efiled so it it is not quite a direct comparison but personally I do not sweat filing state on paper or some other way.
I really see no value in any of the online services as they just do less. For the little difference I can let family members come over and do returns and find value in that and get many other features i find critical as well.
Never had any issues or struggled understanding the software. Anywhere you might not understand something; because, tax code changes every year, there are helpful descriptions or explinations available for every data point.
If you really get stuck you can pay to go into the office and talk to an expert. I've never had to do that though.

Deluxe handles very complex tax situations and in twenty years of use I have not found anything it could not do for me. That includes self employment , 1009 and LLC income along with the new 1099K stuff. It handle rental income. It handles business expenses and deductions, credit, depreciation and business use of vehicle long with the home office stuff. It handles investments accounts and capital gains along with crypto.
I was holding off for the premium because my wife is self employed and have business expenses to account for !!
Anyone else can confirm this?

I will give you a word of advice. About 85% to 90% of comments you see in the threads for these deal for Block for some reason are outright misformation, confusing or just useless.
We get people that just don't know and share impressions or stray thoughts off what they think it is, we get others that repeat misformation they heard and did not verify of it is true, we get others that hate Block for political or philosophical reasons and try to make it appear terrible or a ripoff to dissuade people from buying to punish Block and we get those that confuse the online and installed versions.
Only listen to actual users would be my advice. Take that advice to nay thread or deal as this site is not what it used to be when users tied to help and advise as to how to get the best value out of product or what to be wary of with product. There is to much stillness and foolishness and not enough real information truth and help anymore.

And yes, what you described, happens often on SD threads lol. Sometimes we gotta take the good of SD with the bad. Misinformation

I was planning on getting just the Deluxe.
I already entered all our tax info in TurboTax online version upgrading to their highest version; without filing so I haven't paid for anything.
This gives me the numbers so when I use H&R I can compare the numbers against TT and if they match I file using H&R deluxe.
So having W's, 1099-NEC, 1099-K, 1099-INT/DIVs, and tons business expenses. Payment made to her, as well as her, LLC. From what you said the Deluxe version should be able to handle all of it?
Now I can keep track of my own taxes pay them and know about them for an outlay of $23. My father did not just pay $500 for the tax return but paid $400 a month to have his books kept. What would have cost me $5000 plus I can now do at home with two pieces of software that run about $70 for the year. It does not take long and even an idiot like me can do it. Do I really have to be piisy and angy about $3 bucks here or should I be jumping up and down with joy that I live in at time of unheard of wonders and ease that are accessible even to the not so bright common man? The value I have gained gained is enormous and almost unimaginable. It is not a matter of the cup half full or half empty, it is a matter of the cup overflowing and everybody being sour and cursing about it.
Companies like Block and others have lowered that price to me to $23 from $400 and the second is in much more valuable is in 70s and 80s dollars. I am personally gleeful and grateful as hell. I would even give them a good bit more but the miracle of competitive capitalism has had them lower the price to about as low as they can and still meet their fiduciary corporate duties required by law.
Many may be squeezing the goose that gave you the golden egg till they kill it.
I am really shocked by the frankly arrogant, entitled and greedy attitude of the typical American consumer. It is even not even good enough that another company, Slickdeals, offers us a way to get it significantly off storefront retail.
Don't get me wrong I want everything free and love my deals but that may be just part of inherent selfishness and evil nature. I sometimes try to get the better part of the bargain out of other people, such as my wife, she usually checks me and asks for something in return. That is not her being greedy it is her being smart and reasonable.
That type of selfish thinking has went so far that now many call for wanting all things free and for someone else to do their work of filling out our tax forms. That got us to the insane idea of the IRS just spying on all our transactions and billing us.
We only have the newfound ease and gain as other people did much work to bring it to us. It is not some great injustice that we have to give them some pittance for something very valuable. Cotton came free to the Democrat Southerners and we curse that system. Wouldn't it be nicer to just share some of your wealth for services and value gained ?

But all you list needed for this year are covered with Deluxe. I have never ran into situation it does not handle. All that income is just passthrough income calculated on one or multiple Schedule Cs and ends up as ordinary income of your Schedule A. After depreciation, deductions, expensive, credits etc. done on the Schedule C side of things.
Your tax situation is similar to mine except for the LLC and I do know for sure that they are passthrough income and handled.
Next year could be different if the partnership is true separate corporate entity but that pays it's own taxes but hen even Premium would not do you I think you have to jump up to true corporate tax versions. Take what I say there with grain of salt as I do know that I do see something in Deluxe about partnership income but it is not something that I have dealt with or know about in depth. I do believe it is kind of the same with some partnerships income with some being passthrough and others corporate income. These version Basic Deluxe and Premium will not do corporate income
I will advise also that with the self employed world opening up to you investigate any and all ways to save on taxes. SEPIRAs let you put tons away tax free for retirement if you do not need cash flow. Can put away a large percentage of her earnings that way and not pay taxes on it. Take advantage of business use of personal vehicle, home office and other things like that or buy a vehicle strictly for business. There are all kind of way to wiggle around and save not open to those that just get W2.
