Companies have started making ceramic blades to fit generic cutters, which are much cheaper and fit a variety of handles. Here is an example of a snap-off kind that equates to 120 blades for $20. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6DV8YVH
Called a safety blade for a reason
So cheaper to buy more cutters sadly.

Would have bought it if it wasn't for the fact that it doesn't stay open so your thumb needs to be holding against the switch while cutting. That's not how I hold a utility knife and not how I want to hold the cutter while using it.

In this particular case, I don't think its just a weird California thing. It won't let me ship the green one to Michigan either, just the silver one.

I bought the compact one with a magnet that I stick to the refrigerator. Works great for opening packages and because of the bright green color, easy to spot. It's this one but it was half the price at around $6 a year ago when I got it.:

You can slice open boxes if you want to. You can leave your friends behind...

'Cause your friends don't slice. And if they don't slice, well, they're no friends of mine!

Overall, I think this deal should receive thumbs down. I think the OP is mistaken. It looks like the green knife is made of plastic and normally this price. The more expensive silver version has a body made of more durable aluminum.

However, I wasn't aware of this product. I prefer more traditional razors with standard blades. But a safety cutter like this looks like a smart choice to keep where you do light duty work like opening mail. So I'm grabbing one to try out.

Seems to be the normal price (per Camel and Keepa). It occasionally is more expensive, but rarely.
