They run this kit on Black Friday a lot. I bought it a few years ago and it's perfectly acceptable. It's about the size of a Ryobi 18v drill.

I sold it and bought the big Ryobi impact (PBLIW01B) and a Milwaukee M12 Stubby (Best power tool in existence, 2563-20).

RYOBI is a perfectly fine system to use. At $80 with a battery, you'll be super happy.

Get an impact socket set from Harbor Freight that has your lug nut size and keep this thing in your trunk. It'll be handy one day. As a reminder, check the air in your spare tire.

Also consider the RYOBI PCL001B tire inflator, uses the same battery.

If it was just a bit cheaper, i'd say its worth it as the entry point into such an expansive ecosystem. But it's only $20 less than Walmart's impact that has nearly 3x the torque (826vs375lbs). It really is currently impossible to beat Walmart's 1/2" Hyper Tough w/ 4.0 battery and charger at just $99.

This can take lugs off my full size truck, perfect for home use. Nice to have a Ryobi battery too, can get a lot of meme tools like the fan, portable soldering iron, glue gun or a tool you'll only use once and don't want to pay 3x the price for the red or yellow equivalent

I'm surprised to see someone recommend Hyper Tough over Ryobi when it comes to power tools.

I like Hyper Tough. I have several of their hand tools, tool adjacent items and I really like their modular tool box system. However, I don't think I would ever buy one of their power tools.

Everything I've seen says low quality and cheap. I looked at buying one of their drills to use for cleaning the bathroom (the little sponge things you can chuck), and I decided against it even though it was only $30. The batteries/chargers seem crappy too.

Plus, if you go with Ryobi, you're buying into a system that probably has whatever tool you'll need for the foreseeable future. They often have sales. And I believe their batteries are very highly rated.

They increased the price. I paid 80$ for this just a month ago.

Great for removing spindle nuts.

Have you seen any of the reviews of their impact wrenches? They're surprisingly performant for the cost. The build quality is obviously lower though. However, from what I've seen in the past, Ryobi isn't much better. Perhaps they've improved in recent years.

I actually looked up a review of this impact before commenting because I would have been happy to see they made improvements. While the torque spec seems to be there, I don't think it would last very long because of the battery/charger. And it's only marginally better than the cheaper ryobi that has a more robust line of tools to choose from.

I personally got an older ryobi drill from the local flea market for $5. It looks like someone put it through the wringer, but it still works just fine.

It would be cool if hyper tough upped their game and had a more reliable product at a lower price point, but they'd have to prove it to me with power tools and batteries.

Love their hand tools and stuff though.

I've this impact for years and it's fine for removing lug nuts but has a hard time with much more than that. It wasn't able to loosen my axle nut without me having to notch the nut with a dremel. Even at this price I think it's kinda meh as it is on the weak side.

You get what you pay for. Ryobi is fine for occasional light duty use, but simply won't survive as an every day hard use work tool. Been there done that. Ryobi vs. red or yellow is an apples to oranges comparison. Thus the price difference.

Which is exactly why I said home use. How often is your average homeowner going to use a 1/2 impact wrench lol.

Or for an impact wrench to keep in my truck for emergency. I'd rather have this sitting inside my truck, instead of my Dewalt. I'm also eyeing the Walmart Hyper Tough impact wrench.

Mine does 180 ft/lb axle nuts with no problem. Are you making sure the socket is seated correctly and not using any extensions? Any extra play drastically lowers the torque power of impact wrenches.

Theres also not much on a normal car that requires much more torque than the lug nuts. I can think of axle nuts, subframe nuts, crank, but most fasteners are around the 80 max. Maybe its more for bigger trunks, which I don't have much experience with. This impact has been awesome at getting seized fasteners and bolts on rotating parts off.
