Wera holds the patent for "hex-plus" lobe shaped allen wrenches (look at the 6th pic in the OP). Every single other brand has to use straight cut keys, and they absolutely suck in comparison. Hex-plus doesnt strip or damage stuff like straight cut keys do, and they grip previously stripped stuff far better giving you a fighting chance. Wera does a very poor job of marketing it for some reason.

They are in fact made in the Czech Republic, amazon is always wrong. This is an ok deal if you want short standard keys with hex plus but their longer ballhead ones are a reasonable regular price. Weras ultra premium color coded, CNC milled from roundstock keys are a luxury, but the all black extruded keys work just as well in the real world (I own and use both types)
i have the nicer soft grip wera, Proto and an icon set.

skip these and get some with a ball end tip. i highly recommend the Icon set great value for the money, strong and color coded.

The product description says that these are made in China but their website and another vendor show them as being made in Czechoslovakia.

Bought these last time they were on sale, gotta say, it's a pretty damn solid set. Nothing special just super convenient and better quality than my harbor freight set, so that's a win in my book.

Wire Cutter rated these ball ends the best for around-the-house jobs for 2025:

No idea of the quality of this set and not sure where it's made but it's colored for about the same as the Amazon basics at $17:

Cool info. I have the color-coded ball joint sets and they far superior to a cheap set. For everybody that's saying why pay more, try it and you'll realize they are worth a premium

just buy those from local harbor freight for less than $5 for more

PITTSBURGH SAE and Metric Hex Key Set, 25 Piece

Thing about HF is, even when the form factor is almost identical, the quality is usually much lower—even the Icon line. There are use cases for cheap tools, but they no replacement for good tools.

Product description on Amazon is wrong, they are made in the Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia hasn't existed 1992) where Wera has most of their factories. You can see this on the actual product labels when you buy them (there is a photo in the reviews as well).
I've seen the same "made in China" error on the Amazon details for other brands that are not made in China such Knipex.

If you just want to have some of these around and are near a Menards, they have both SAE and Metric 7-piece sets "free" after store credit rebate through 2/15/25. Costs a stamp and envelope, and it's a store credit, but they have snacks/candy if you don't shop there for hardware. You can get random other free items, too, and mail all rebates at once.

What is the purpose of the ball ends? I've only used regular hex.

Czechoslovakia has not existed since 1992, they are from the Czech Republic 🤓
