$604.37 tax free from AAFES. I really don't need a laptop for much. I don't game. Don't need it for work. Just want something that's reliable and will last a long time. I saw this this morning and am thinking about pulling the trigger, but don't know enough about laptops to do so. I had an iMac for years and loved it, but it's about to crap out.

It is a good price but keep in mind apple is moving towards 16GB ram for their base models so to your last point 'last a long time' its possible you feel the strain of only 8GB of ram sooner rather than later. upgrading the ram from 8GB to 16GB usually means a $200 price jump until recently with the latest M4 releases where the base models have been including 16GB of ram. the m4 air is rumored to release by march which usually means even better discounts on the previous generations but with new tariffs being imposed Apple is more than likely to pass those cost onto consumers might see a jump of $100+ for base model pricing. If they happen to offer free returns and you can get by as is for another 6-7 weeks I would order and 'lock in' this price and depending on what the m4 pricing ends up looking like either keep or return.

ditto, great price, but not available. don't worry too much about 8GB of RAM, especially if you're not opening a ton of browser tabs.
