Rather than bickering and insulting one another, do a search for "Is Le Creuset worth it" or something similar.

What you'll find is that many cooking websites will argue that the better quality, durability and warranty make them worth the cost if you are someone who cooks a lot. If you only cook occasionally, then there are many brands of similar cookware for much cheaper and it probably isn't worth the extra cost for very occasional use.

The 7.5 is oven safe. The description made it sound like it is so I had to double check.

"Yes, the product description states that it is oven-safe up to 500°F. The tempered glass lid is also oven-safe and broiler-safe up to 425°F."

The 5.5 qt has the best deal and is also a versatile size.
The 7.5 qt isn't oven safe.

Even on sale this is way overpriced. I got a 6 quart Mercer (Lodge) enamaled cast iron for under $30 on sale at Amazon, normal price is $40.

Thanks, I'm going for the 5.5 size, I've been in the market for an oven safe quality Dutch oven.

I have two of the 6.75 wide round dutch ovens from this company and they're great. Le Creuset recently had these on sale for about 280 via their website. They do have outlet stores where you can get good quality dutch ovens at steep discounts also. I've heard bad things about competitors' dutch ovens with problems due to chipping enamel, etc. It's worth the investment and they come with a life time warranty.

Contact the manufacturer before buying it from Woot.com/Amazon.com!

Not an authorized retailer, warranty does not apply

Its one of the reasons that brands like this do "closeouts" and sell unused inventory cheaply to outlets like Woot… they don't have the legacy costs of handling warranties and after-sale care.
