Great CPU series - I have three 5800X (not XT) as newer low-power home server builds, with unbuffered ECC RAM in each. Even on the used market, the CPUs don't get much cheaper than this. - 100-120.

It's currently $139.99 at Amazon shipped free. Only $5 more than the shipped MC price.

Guys I have the 5700 non x/g paired with a 4070 and 32gb ram... I'm not upgrading till at least the 6 series. Do you think this would be a decent performance jump? I game at 1440p and higher. Not looking to break the bank here. Any suggestions?

My dad is still on a Ryzen 1700 from 2017. I upgraded his RAM to 32GB and the storage to an NVME. This is tempting at this price to upgrade his CPU.

Upgrading your Dad's cpu would be a good idea if he plans on changing from Win10 to Win11. Ryzen 1700 does not meet Win11 hardware requirements for TPM compatibility.

You can upgrade to Win 11 with Ryzen 1700, the TPM requirement has been removed by Microsoft recently.

Good upgrade for those on AM4. Not worth getting to make a new AM4 build, of course.

No, this is not worth getting over your 5700. Only a 5700X3D or 5800X3D would be much of a jump without having to buy a new motherboard and RAM.
