Amazon. Too many reports of counterfeits.
You can really justify nearly any change imaginable to be positive or negative. I'm def a fan of the non hard plastic bottoms!

What I love most about this battery is the rubber bottom lol so thank you engineers!
Judging from a number of responses to your post, I'd say you seemed to be in the minority...at least in here. Although, i do think to each their own (what works for you may not for others), but i tend to think of another example. Let's say on any particular drill, would you want the grip area to be all plastic or would you prefer to have the rubber pad inserts for grip? I guessed you can say you'd prefer all plastic to be able slide your hand onto the grip faster (and i could actually see that), however, i suspect most people would prefer the traction the rubber pads provide, along with the dampening effect from the vibration...not to mention the more premium feel. But again, to each their own...and that's perfectly okay too! It's your money and you should buy whatever works for you 👌
Was going to say, I like the rubber bottom so it stops sliding down on slightly angled surfaces
I also agreed. I didn't mention that it may provide "some" impact resistance in case of a dropage or just getting tossed around.

Yes this is the truth.

Just FYI, the smaller 1.7ah POWERSTACK and the 8ah POWERPACK both have rubber bottoms. With this, the newest 3.4ah(?) POWERSTACK and the 4ah POWERPACK are likely to have rubber bottoms as well... This may be the direction they're leaning for either the new batteries or higher end batteries.

Powerstack batteries are pouch cell and so far I haven't seen any counterfeit pouch cell dewalt batteries. So while I would not order any other batteries from Amazon, Powerstack should be safe. You can always check the serial number on the Dewalt site right after you receive the package.

Battery has the rubber bottom and the new XR label on the side where "PowerStack" is smaller and under the XR logo, which is what I was expecting. Manufactured end of 05/2024.
That doesn't rule out other's concerns but just wanted to share my experience. Just need to charge it up and give it some tests.

Depends exactly on your needs...
5ah PS: lighter weight & cheaper total (total $ spent)
8ah PP: larger capacity, more value ($/ah), & more current output (potentially more power for tool, depending on what you're using it with)
Nope. I got a power stack off Amazon, and the serial did not check out on the dewalt website. I contacted dewalt directly and they confirmed it was legit. Customer rep said their database can be incomplete.
