I actually have this that I bought from Monoprice years ago. It is big and hefty. There's no doubt it can hold all of what it's advertised for. I went to home depot to buy my own bolts to be sure. I measured my studs precisely where they're located to make sure I insert the bolts right in the middle of the studs so I don't crack it because the bolts are quite big and the weight on it will be a lot. Right now it is holding my 77" LG G4 and Samsung Q990C soundbar with ease.

The only drawback is the distance from the TV to the wall. It leaves a lot of space so if you're looking for a flush install, this isn't it. Since so much work was put in to ensure a stable mount, I don't mind keeping it even if it isn't flush. It is stable and secured.

Another thing, the holes on the VESA mount could be spaced out better. I was limited by what holes I could use due to spacing limitation.

TLDR: If you're looking for a stable mount, this is it. If you're looking for flush mount, look elsewhere.
You can get one of these if you have 24" spaced studs: TV Wall Mount Extension Bracket, TV Mount Extender Fitting 16"-24" Wood Stud Extension Arm for Universal TV Wall Plate TV Centering Sliding Bracket Holds 132lbs by Perlegear - PGUE1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08THF5JV7

Maybe this is a stupid question, but a mount like this states it will hold up to an 84" tv with a weight capacity to 110 pounds. Why wouldn't this hold an 85" tv that only weighs 80 pounds? Does it have to do with the mounting pattern spacing/design? The VESA supported options on the mount show 600x400 which is the same for some 85" tv's.

I'd say buy and try it. Probably just fine print in case something happens. For 19 bucks you can go wrong.

It should be fine. I have a very similar mount that says it works with tvs up to 75" and 100 lbs. I put a 75 lb 83" tv on it with no issues.

For walls with 16-inch wood studs.
I made this mistake last time when I tried to help a friend install one in their apartment as their wood studs on the wall were 24" apart.

Not as sexy, but you could also just get a 24" long piece of 1"x12" lumber. Stain or paint it if you must

Yea I'm not sure why it's so expensive now. I got it for $10 a few years ago. Can probably find a cheap one on Temu or something
