What would "Excellent" entail you think? Maybe a few hours on it in like new condition? Super Bowl return?

The quality ratings aren't always that accurate, they are supposed to denote how complete and/or scratched/dented the product is.

I don't think they look at panel time. As soon as I get it powered up that is the first thing I look at and if it seems like it was a floor display it goes right back to the store.

There are lots of good quality SD's to be found just be careful and stick to their 15 day return policy if you find anything you don't like.

If 10 years ago, then yes. However BB is so broke nowadays that they dont even have dedicated staff/team to inspect returned/open box items to rate them as excellent, good and fair as they used to. So what do they do now? BB would just resell every inital return as excellent by default and if a buyer brings that item back then BB would mark the returned item as good and then fair in case they get returned again.

I've been using an "excellent" B4 for 6 weeks now and have had zero problems.

While their ratings seem to be all over the place, how do you know they no longer have people doing the inspections?

I've had both atrocious and exceptional luck with Best Buy open box items - got a fantastic deal on an 85" Bravia 7, but it required a trip to the outlet to find out the supposedly excellent one I had paid for initially looked like it had been keyed, and for the store manager to look into finding me a pristine replacement which took less than a week.
Unless you can see it in advance, just assume you might have to deal with the hassle of sending a big-ass panel back

I think one of the BB employees posted this on reddit if I remember correctly. That also explains why my experience with BB openbox purchases have been so inconsistent recently.
