This has 30 more calories than Premier Protein (normally 160cal/shake). Atkins has a couple grams more fat, cholesterol and dietary fiber. Sugars are the same as PP.

Atkins second ingredient, after water, is milk protein isolate, which contains 90% protein. That is technically better (and usually more expensive ingredient) than PP which has second ingredient as milk protein concentrate (70-80% protein). Atkins should be lower in fat (iso vs concentrate), but maybe they add some to increase satiety.

Why do these drinks need so many obscure ingredients?

I'd guess the extra fat might be from the vegetable oil used.

But at $15.30, these are $1.27 per serving which is cheaper than many powders AND has more protein, with the added benefit of fiber and vitamins. If they taste good, have been stored properly, aren't expired, and make it to you, this is a good price for what you're getting.

I just tried this in the last sale. Chocolate peanut is barely indistinguishable from the flavor of Premier Protein. I'd say at the bottom of the carton there is a wheat-like grainy flavor, but I loved it overall since it offers a good amount of fiber, which PP does not.

Crazy that you don't see any non-vitamins in that list. You do you.

Can you elaborate? Most of what I see are either beneficial salts, binders, thickeners, and/or emulsifiers to prevent the ingredients from separating and to help maintain a consistent texture. Just because an ingredient doesn't have a common name like "Vitamin E" doesn't mean it's inherently bad.
