Did that. Still ended up with a powered on light while the system was down and unplugged.
Ended up having to remove the battery as well. At least one other person had to do the battery removal multiple times so we'll see what happpens.

you can apply some oil and vinegar, leave it for couple of hours and wipe off with a dirty cloth. It will turn to be an old screen
