I have that flatenna. It's fine. I find it amazing that it's one of the better antennas for not being an amplified antenna however, it will only work if you have clear line of sight, it will not under any circumstances pick up reception through Sheetrock wall standard house construction. I live on a hill and i can see the tower in view across the valley and the moment i got a much longer solid copper core RG6 coax cable and mounted it on a window i went from getting virtually no channels to getting all the channels mostly clear where i live.
I do recommend that cheap Philips because i believe it has the ability to pick up both uhf and vhf but the flatenna struggles with one of those.
The antennaman youtube channel is probably the best place to see actual reviews and breakdowns about how things work.
Channelmasters website is very helpful for determining where the antennas are in your location and determining where you should aim your antenna. Click where it says to view map, and enter your zip code. Not only will it show what direction the antennas are but it will tell you what specific channels are being broadcasted and at what frequency and the strength too. Very important when you're trying to figure out antenna placement.
Also another thing as the antenna man says, every tv or set top box you connect your antenna to may or may not have a good antenna tuner. I learned this the hard way with my TCL Roku tv which i love, turns out to have a bottom of the barrel tv antenna tuner built it, so it will make picking up reception worse and worse.

I did the whole cord cutting thing a few months ago. I'm amazed at how much research i had to do, but once you learn a few things it makes making decisions easier.
It's possible that the antenna man has done a review on this on YouTube, I would check him out, he actually test how good the signal strength of the different antennas are, and generally most antennas sold on Amazon are complete garbage

If you watch antenna man, you should know that HD and NextGen are meaningless marketing BS when it comes to antennas. For the receiver yes, but for for the antenna...a signal at a frequency is a signal at a frequency. Antenna don't care. Only matters that it is tuned for the correct frequencies.
