So Great deal
I ended up getting a new 65" C4 AND 300+ dollars back on a gift card ... and that's why i started buying so much suff at best buy again.. .180 bucks a year and everything is covered under a service plan that saves me so much money it's honestly ridiculous (i have replaced so many video game controllers alone... including ps5 dualsense edge TWICE)
for 180 a year and the fact that they'll price match I have a hard time NOT deferring to best buy for most purchases these days..
I mean look how much apple care costs and ... i just bought iphone 16 pro / watch 10 / airpod pro 2 from best buy and they all got 2 years of apple care for free (i had to pay the difference for the pluis plan on the phone for accidfental damage etc)
EDIT: I should have noted after that last sentence... total tech (or whatever they call it now) covers accidental damage with a really small deduct after year-1 of 2 .... and you can extend the individual coverages after 2 years for relatively cheap.
They even cover drones so i could have smashed my dji FPV into a wall and got a new one for free.
NOt sure why more people don't use it.. I always avoided service plans in the past but to me this has been a godsend and has saved me thousands of dollars over time.
edit 2... C4 is an amazing tv..... the c5 isn't a huge improvement (G5 is a huge improvement even ofver the g4)
G5 can do 165hz gaming... C4/c5 can still do 144hz
The g5 also has better colors better brightness and a lot of other stuff going for it
Another note would be that yes the G's cost a lot more, but they also come with a FIVE YEAR panel warranty from LG (every other oled they sell is a two year)
product protection? or is this part of a best buy membership?
both... total tecch is a subscription that costs me 180 a yaear but it's also blanket 2-year product protection on literally every single thing i buy from there -- which tends to pay for itself just by replacing game controllers tbh. (not to mention the oled mentioned above, the samsung fold 3 i replaced last year, the samsung watch i replaced last year etc. )
it does give me more incentive to buy more things from best buy so long as tehy price match it just makes sense... i don't have to stress about anything breaking .. i've also changed out numerous gaming keyboards and mice that cost a ton these days...)
Everythig I buy having a blanket plan that costs not much more than amazon prime seems like a better deal for me tbh.. plus i get 60-day no question returns on everything

MLA = Micro Lens Array - a tiny lens is put on top of each OLED pixel to concentrate it's light so it can be brighter. Only available on the G series (G4 and I think G3)
Tandem = use of two OLED panels to increase the brightness - LG's replacement technology for MLA on the G5, they put additional OLED pixels/panels to increase the brightness instead of the expensive process of putting a lens on each pixel.
B4, C4, G4 = LG's model lines for OLED tv's, from entry to mid to high end, generally getting brighter as you go up the model line.
4 = 2024 model, 5 = 2025 model
B = entry
C = mid-level
G = high-end
Whether the price is justified is all up to you and what you value.

The G4 (rtings 9.2) is obviously better. Brighter by 2x at max. Brightness maybe 50% better when dialed in. Richer colors of course. Detail increase impressive. Surprisingly, I see blooming I don't notice on the TCL. Not from the set, but from my eyes. Getting a little up in age now. I had only seen the G4 in brightly lit settings when cross shopping. My fault for not dark setting viewing for this unexpected result.
Is it worth the premium? Have to say probably not. It needs really good source material to make its excellence noticeable. Like 30+ gig bd rips or 20-30mbit streaming vids. And even then, the TCL is still good enough. I ran these side by side with a splitter for 2 days and a lot of vids. The TCL goes to the basement as an upgrade and the G4 gives a welcome size boost.
My advice for those just looking for a good set without being a videophile? Get a B4 or C4, or the Sam's Philips deal. For a fixed $ amount, go larger. Like the 85" QM8, rtings 8.4 rated, in another thread. That sounds amazing.
My use: movies (50/50 hdr and sdr) and sd content. No gaming or monitor use.
