Does anyone else find the picture of it hanging in the tent loaded full of batteries ludicrous? This thing is not light when filled with 42 batteries!
Never would I have thought to solve a problem that didn't exist
The lantern runs on 3 AA batteries (though I question whether it truly reaches 1000 lumens, as 300 to 500 lumens seems more likely) and holds 42 various batteries. It also includes an LCD battery tester, so for the clearance price, it's a good deal.

the light on mine worked with the included AAA carbon zinc batteries.

The light did not work with my rechargeable Ikea batteries.

Doing some diagnosis with a multimeter, it seemed like the contact between the middle battery pos terminal and the battery holder could be better.. The pos terminal on the Ikea battery seemed a little shorter than the included AA.

I took out the 2 terminals for the middle battery and used a nail to make both positive terminals a little more pointy.

Works well now with rechargeables.

I saw these on clearance and I just find it weird. It'll only add to clutter and I'll end up tossing it in the garbage.

I tried 4 different set of batteries (rechargeable=Imedion, Energizer, Eneloop, and Jiawei) and have no problem.

In my store which shows 22+ available none could be found anywhere...finally an associate found a box on the top of their inventory shelves with the # on the side...pulled it down and all of them were there..I grabbed 4 and he put the rest out on the clearance shelves.

Kinda gimmicky, kinda handy. There's no way it reaches 1k or even 500 lumens, but it does reach $3.70 worth of lumens, which is just right. Also comes with a battery tester reverse of the battery compartment and a mini screwdriver. Why? Not sure, but it's there. If you're willing to throw out the battery tester, that's more random storage for you. Totally not worth the $15 regular price at my HD, but at <$4, I picked up three more for gifts.

These are great for emergencies, we get occasional power outages and earthquakes here in California so I'll pick some up for our emergency kit. It's cool that's it's water resistant as well. Thanks op
