Considering this is not the 2024 Qm8 that does 5000 nits of peak brightness I would go with the U8N. I bought it 3 weeks ago for $1800 at Best Buy. It is currently on sale for $100 less. The U8N is amazing and plenty bright. Picture is solid after calibrating and feeding it HDR. PC and PS5 gaming at 144hz is awesome too. If you are looking to pay less you could go with the TCL QM7 for $1400 which I read is a great TV or you can wait for the new TCL 2025 Mini LED sales
This unit is the two-year-old model not the one currently being sold at Best Buy.
This might be ok for the butlers quarters but wake me up when we get a deal on the 98" version

Iirc, they didn't increase the number of zones (or whatever) between the 85" and the 98"...so there's a bit of an inconsistency between going from 75" ~> 85" Vs. 85" ~> 98"(Don't think it's a deal breaker, just something I noticed when researching this model a while ago)
Here's the info I mentioned. 2300 zones is probably fine on both, but the zones are technically stretched a little more thin "per inch" on the 98"

Nothing as far as I know. It simply means you found and posted a good deal on SD. They get referral link commissions on the deals we post.

In the past when I posted something that ended up on Front Page or otherwise reposted by a staff member, they gave me Pro and acknowledged the original poster in their post.

I want to see how people are going to be bringing so large TVs through corridors and doors. At that point, it is larger than a king-sized mattress, and you can't bend it. Takes like 3-4 people to lift, and is super fragile due to so large and thin glass.
Would be crazy with packaging because 135" would probably be like 7ft tall on its own. my 98" had to come through my kitchen slider upstairs having gone up to the deck as it wouldnt fit through the front door and up the stairs of my split level and that shipping box was *only* 62" tall

YMMV, but Check your local Best Buy for the 2024 TCL 85QM851 model. I was able to score a good open box for $1375 plus tax but it was a store pick up. This was an excellent deal but not even close to the brand new Hisense 100 U8K I got last December also from Best Buy for $1150 (net) plus tax. That' deal also came with free delivery and installation. I waited for another deal on the 85 TCL or Hisense and this Open box TCL 85QM851 is the best so far.

There was a sale end of December 2024 at Best Buy for Hisense 100 U8K. The price was $3500 with a $2000 Gift card rebate. It comes with free shipping and installation as well. I made the purchased with my Capital One Venture which had a promo of 10% rebate at Best Buy. So final price is $3500 less $2000 GC less $350 rebate from Capital One = $1150. I used the $1375 GC to buy the TCL 85 QM851 open box. Used the rest to buy open box Panasonic 420 4K player and open box Sonos Ace headphone. Still have some left lol .

Note it's high rating on Rtings and a mere 4.2 by users on Amazon. Just shows these professional reviewers, who never really "live" with the tvs they review, are full of BS.

I went in person to Best Buy to compare both models, the 2024 QM8 vs U8N, & the TCL was the superior TV in the opinion of about 5 people present. Granted this is the 2023 flagship TCL, but my money's still on the TCL.
