Yeah, seems like a crap comment.
This is the 2025 iteration of this model, the first time this has had a discount. Feel free to share any other 4070 laptop deals with this or Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor for this price.
You can get the previous Gen 4070 for lower but then again this processor is in a league of it's own. You might also get a 4080 refurb or new around this price but such deals are not so frequent.

For the latest specs this is the best deal available and it would be helpful to the community if instead of just making this illogical comment you actually give the reason for it.

damn so it's going to design 3D renders of the entire city of Tokyo in 2 microseconds

or is it a marginal improvement from last gen.... of which right now there's a $900 HP with a Ryzen 7 8845HS and also a 4070 AND NOT SOLDERED RAM

the only good thing about this laptop is the chipset but limited by the rest of the specs

if you can pay this price you can get a proper workstation laptop with a proper GPU

You should search up on the op. He literally scours laptops daily, so he has his finger on the pulse of laptop deals. Value is in the eye of the beholder of course but you are only looking at one aspect, the GPU. 2.5k display, Ryzen hx 370, 90wh battery and yes soldered ram, but plenty of it and with the advantage of speeds that sodimms can't achieve. This is compounded when you are on the go on battery, if you are using the 890m igpu, it performs significantly better with the faster ram. Meaning you can still do fairly hefty graphics work on the go. Add to that the premium shell, no hinge issues etc.

The value 4070s seem to only come with 1080p screens which seems to defeat the purpose of having such a beast GPU under the hood. I agree, if you want the cheapest 4070 laptop out there there are better deals but you have to look at the whole picture.

thinking the ASUS TUF is a premium shell and calling the 4070 "a beast GPU" just proved you know nothihng about what you are talking about

it's an 8gb VRAM card.... any high resolution display is wasted on it

TUF is the budget division of ASUS

dear god, it's just not a good deal.... it's not that deep

I'm not sure why you are taking this so personally or resulting to insults. The 4070 is a powerful GPU. Not everyone needs a 5090 for gaming. You also ignored my other points. If you can find a similar processor/gpu/resolution laptop cheaper, thats great and I hope you share it with the community. We can agree to disagree, but doesn't mean we have to sling arrows at each other brother. We are all here to share and learn.

Also posted by Dr. Wajahat Not bad at all. $120 cheaper. OLED. Ultra 9 vs Ryzen AI HX 370. Not sure how NPU's compare but I know the 890m is a mini powerhorse if graphics on battery is a need. That one also has half the RAM, soldered. and 105w 4070 vs 140w 4070 (in fairness, over 100w doesn't seem to be huge deltas.) Still a good deal, but some folks may feel the $120 is worth the 140w gpu + double RAM, especially since it's non-expandable.

Regardless, appreciate you bringing that deal to my attention. I can't keep up with Dr. Wajahat's deals!

One other point, and I'll concede the point. When you say "not that deep," keep in mind, you seem like someone who keeps up with the tech. I do in waves, when I'm in the market, others may not. For example, it was just this week I learned how important LPDDR5X RAM is for the performance of the 890M iGPU, and that SODIMM's cannot yet hit speeds of LPDDR5X.

The whole NVidia GPU mobile wattage thing can be news for say, parents looking for a gaming laptop for their kids, etc. So what might not seem deep to you might very much be considered so for others. Just something to keep in mind. I know I learn something new around here on a weekly basis. e.g. you taught me today the TUF line is not their premium line. ;-)

He's right the Zephyrus line is a higher end line, but that still doesn't change that the TUF in this deal has twice the memory, and the HX 370 is a better CPU in every benchmark: single and multicore performance, it runs cooler and uses less power, the iGPU is better and so on. The TUF has a decent IPS which some people prefer for a laptop over OLED due to burn in risk, and this one has solid nits and color gamut. There are lots of reasons why someone would pay $100 more to get this over the Zephyrus. I am in the market and if I had to choose I would pick the TUF.

Personally I am holding off to see what the 5070ti laptop models look like because I am looking for a 1600p screen, and I want 12GB of VRAM while the 4070 only has 8. The new ACER models look interesting as at least on paper seem like they have everything for a not too ridiculous price.

Edit to add that the price is $300 less than some other stores are selling it for too, so regardless of emotions and personal opinions, it could be considered a deal to someone looking for this specific model/spec combination.
