FYI the so called "Free Eeros Router" will end up costing you $50 restocking fee when you terminate your service.

Updated description, it's free as long as you are still in service.

Has Frontier ruined the (parts of the) Fios network they bought from Verizon 10 years ago so badly that they're forced to resort to this sort of deep discounting?

More likely with the newer DOCSIS versions, they have stronger competition from existing cable providers Spectrum Comcast etc. Spectrum is recently upgraded me for free to symmetrical gigabit internet, which is now generally available in my area (big metro) cheaper than Frontier.

I would stay away from personal experience. Frontier does all kinds of shady stuff with billing, contracts and service.

I've never had an issue with Frontier Fiber, I've referred all my family and friends. Everyone was a victim of ScamCast. There's also a higher package of 2 gigs for $64

I got the 500 for 29.99 last month and it and it works great. Switched from TDS fiber 300 which worked great also, but the price kept going up. They claimed when I called to cancel that they could have matched the 29.99. I'm like, "bitch you been charging me $85 a month for a while. If you really wanted to keep me you would have already made the effort."

TDS offers $59.99 for life for 1 gbps in my area and didn't have to worry about price increase, At least for now 😊

It's worth noting that Frontier charges an equipment restocking fee when you cancel their service.
