Yes, you'll need a receiver or amplifier of some kind to power them
Also, drop a link to where the 600M II's are only $40 more.

Yes, if you are in the center. If there will be people off to the sides, a 2.1 setup is not ideal. This is not just purely from not great off-axis response inherent to these speakers but the very nature of not having a center. I personally have 6.3 setup and do not miss a center at all,, but then I am always in The MLP
But overall, a decent 2.1 or 2.2 setup will crush a sound bar application.
600m front, 500m surround is the way to go.
What's a good passive amp for desk
Some manufacturers don't like their products being advertised below MSRP (or another specific 'minimum'). Adorama likely does this for deal prices so they don't upset their manufacturers.
I've been driving my RP600M-IIs with a SMSL SA300 [amazon.com] which I've had for ~2.5yrs, but I also recently picked up an RSL IA255.1 [rslspeakers.com] for a secondary setup. Both have sub-out, so it's easy to add a sub. RSL has a 90hz high-pass filter switch so you can better pair small speakers with a sub, but that's not really necessary for these Klipsch.
I'm sticking to the SA300 as my main, partly because it has a small footprint and fits nicely on my desk. Only con is lack of USB-C (instead it uses micro-usb for usb audio).
