still a couple of bucks cheaper but allows you to upgrade in future.
I suppose it's nice that the SSD part of the Lexar can be plugged directly into the USB-C port if you only need the drive, but I suspect that most people who need a mobile SSD are doing relatively serious content and would want to be able to add power and mics. Power is especially important if you're shooting for a long time and powering the SSD.

The Lexar is much more compact and the whole kit is easier to fit in my pocket. The star of this kit is the tiny USB-C Hub that allows you to easily add an extra mic, while also providing a way to charge. The closest alternative I had prior to this was the Belkin Connect USB-C to 4-Port USB-C hub as that was one of the few hubs that could both charge the phone and provide power to an external USB-C mic. That setup was cumbersome and had all sorts of cables dangling off of it.
The Lexar SSD can be used without the hub and plugged directly into the phone. It's such a tiny setup that I leave it attached to my phone whenever I know I will be shooting in ProRes Log.

Sounds like an ad. Cringe.

Not an ad at all. I'm just trying to provide some insight as someone who had to use a self-made version for the first year the iPhone 15 Pro was out as there was nothing like this on the market.
Fact is, nothing beats this Lexar kit if your primary purpose is mobile ProRes Log recording.
