Move along this isn't for you obviously. People pay more for the best version they can watch at home.
The 80s were the last age of free range kids. Riding around town on your bike at all hours of the day were typical in suburbs. Nowadays, parents would get called out on social media (unfortunately). Strangely, we still had better manners even though we were feral. The nostalgia of Goonies is what makes it special. It's not a particularly well acted or deep movie, but it harkens to a simpler time for kids
Isn't the first 10 minutes of the movie a police chase? How would kids find that boring?

For those looking for a deal, and possibly smoother experience, Goonies on Blueray is $7.73. After hearing some folks say the 4k version was not as clear, figured HD would be best for us. Another classic for 80s kids and their kids. Thanks, OP!

I guess you never got bored or a little restless when you found something slow and boring as a 5 and 7 year old huh? Ooh watchout, we have a kid genius here!!
Why talk about the movie being 'too slow' at all if your children are simply not capable of sitting through movies? Seems more like a child thing than a movie thing. No offense meant--just saying.

Hey genius, you obviously don't have any kids or are ever around kids. Sounds like you were never one yourself somehow.. but little kids brains work differently than bigger kids and adults. Their attention spans are usually shorter. Mindblowing right? No offense.

I have a three-year-old that sat through Cars 3 the other day. Every kid is different. Your kids might be more kinesthetically-oriented which is fine--good, even!

Again--it's not about the movie, it's about the kid. Which is all I was playfully jesting about. Your original post was criticizing the movie being too slow.

What do you guys think about Goonies and how it holds up today?

I remember watching it as a kid in the 80s and liking it.. I tried watching it with my kids the other day and the first 20-25 min were pretty slow and boring so we turned it off.
I'm a little stumped on this one. I probably saw it in the 80's at some point. I watched it with my wife recently and didn't care for it much. The kids constantly screaming just got on our nerves. Plus they kept playing that same Cyndi Lauper song multiple times. It was nice to see Short Round though. As an 80's kid I was surprised I didn't like it more on the revisit, especially with the cult status around it. I prefer the Monster Squad honestly. But, this has happened on other cult movies I rewatched again and didn't care for like Night of the Comet.

Okay, it's really apparent that you lack common sense now. Cars 3 is a completely different type of movie than Goonies. One came out in the 80's and the other in around 2017, which is over 30 years apart. One is also a colorful animation directly aimed at really small kids. My kids also have sat through tons of animated movies before.

I honesty can't believe you're even trying to make that comparison, smh.

Maybe your 3 year old could also sit through Schindlers List, or even all the Godfather movies eh? No? Maybe he/she must have a bigger problem then.
