I remember earlier in the year when this thing was dropping $10 every week... I see we settled here at $140.

It's not a bad CPU for those still stuck on AM4 and can't snag a 5700x3d at a decent price....

Crazy to think a year ago you could get legit 5700x3d on Ali Express for like $115 - $130 all day long
Main issue is that a jump to 7000 / 9000 series isn't just a CPU change but also motherboard and RAM.

With that said, 9600x is pretty comparable / slight uplift over 5800xt
speed wise it's 5%. but workload wise like data processing, video editing it's much more capable.

My local Best Buy tried to price match MicroCenter, but it was below their allowable discount limit. I went to Best Buy's website and via online chat, they were able to price match it for me.

I have a 5600... just checked the 5800XT and it has just 5% more performance or so. What's the next leap one would make? Are the 9000 series really that big of a jump?

You're still relatively modern, at this point I would wait for the node shrink with 10k series (or what ever they will call it) in 2026. the PC market is a bit inflated now.

I'm currently using a ryzen 3600. Is the upgrade worth it? Uses the same motherboard?

How'd it go for you? Getting mine in a few days, upgrading from a 3600X. I suspect my performance will increase 15-25% in some games as I am being choked by the 3600X on a 16gb Radeon 6800.

15% fps increase in less cpu intensive games, though in more cpu reliant games I'm hoping for 25% frames maybe going from 60fps to 75fps say in cyberpunk 2077. Let's find out next week!
