P5 royal is great, but for PS4/PS5, I would rather recommend P3 reload and the forthcoming P4 remake than other two.

Persona 5 Royal is so overrated. I'm playing through it right now and there are so many issues with this game. Cannot understand why it was critically acclaimed.

P4 Remake is currently a rumor and not officially announced.

I loved 3 and 4 but I couldn't get into 5. The characters were so annoying. It's wild because yeah it's the best rated of the three.

I was literally skipping school to play p4 on my vita.

they are standalone titles so you don't have to go in numerical order. i think playing 5R first is better

I hear ya. Hear great things about P4 tbh but yeah, sadly it's been overshadowed by Persona 5. I really don't like how tedious and restrictive this game is. Maybe it's just me, any fans of Persona 5 out there? Please chime in.

Not a terrible deal if you really want these on ps5, but all have been cheaper.
Having played both I don't think Id ever revisit persona 3 portable now that Reload is out. Reload is a ground up remake using the persona 5 engine, not a remaster.
Note these are all self-contained stories no play order needed.
Im more of a Persona 4 fan. Its well-done story with compelling characters. Persona 5 is good just very...loud.

A little correction: P5R and Metaphor were made using the same proprietary engine, while P3R was made using UE4, so P3R was upgraded with P5's graphics and gameplay, not engine. The next P6 is rumored to use UE similar to P3R. They started working on Metaphor right after P5, before P3R, so they couldn't transition by that time, despite releasing Metaphor later.
