You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Non of the links in my targeted emails work for Total Wireless. They are expired. I had $120 at one point. Now its just $15. Today is also the last day my credit card offers is good. I've been trying to browse Total Wireless in both the app and browser with extension but still no emails.

Things seem different with them lately. Lots of posts on Reddit how they are reducing the gift card redemption options. One of my accounts has about 90 which is good but other has only about 40 with crappy options.

The only other higher option is $20 back but that site is annoyng if it doesnt track, takes months to resolve case

But basically if I can get a good email with a goods reward offer today I will pull the trigger but if not I may wait to see whats happening at end of week with the 4th.

Purposely not mentioning any names of sites here to best adhere to rules

I already prepaid 3 months of mint for visiting family and would be nice if I can get this deal, activate it in about 2 months so she can use the service for 3 months after it unlocks and she can take it back to Asia as unlocked device. Can i buy this but not activate for next 2 months to not overlap with Mint?

Just activated phone I got last week. Used GV number I signed up for last week. Let it sit for a few days to make sure.
In the GV website page, setup Voice Mail via phone or listen and added a four digit PIN (this is your port out PIN in Total Wireless port request).
For address, unused the Mountainview Google addy. Account # is your 10 digit GV number.
Unlocked your GV number for $3.

Took about 4 hours to xfer, TW called me about 5 minutes after the port request to tell me how the process would happen and it could take up to 2 days to port.

Got a text from TW once port was complete and rebooted the phone before making test call.

Overall effortless process.

Guys, 1 month ago I got mint unlimited for 1 year. But quality in Houston is so bad. I can't stand with it. So I'll try this.
By the way, does somebody know if I can stop my mint and get some refund? It was 6+6 months deal with galaxy a15 5g phone

When activating and porting a number, one of the steps asks for the service plan PIN. I don't see a plan card with the phone. I log in to my account on Total Wireless but cannot find anything.

Has anyone had success with putting a number to port in but getting a new number at activation?

That's because they stopped using service pins 3+ yrs ago & phone adds prepaid plan when the included physical sim is activated.

How do I figure out whether my device has been unlocked or not? Which screen or setting should I look at?

Do I need to call/chat to associate the sim with the phone so I can activate it?

No, you just activate on their website (or with the TW app), it's pretty simple. If there's a problem then you call - phone should already be associated with the sim/plan.
