You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

I was wondering the same thing. Looking at this for my son who still has some time left on his Mint Mobile account
Things seem different with them lately. Lots of posts on Reddit how they are reducing the gift card redemption options. One of my accounts has about 90 which is good but other has only about 40 with crappy options.
The only other higher option is $20 back but that site is annoyng if it doesnt track, takes months to resolve case
But basically if I can get a good email with a goods reward offer today I will pull the trigger but if not I may wait to see whats happening at end of week with the 4th.
Purposely not mentioning any names of sites here to best adhere to rules
In the GV website page, setup Voice Mail via phone or listen and added a four digit PIN (this is your port out PIN in Total Wireless port request).
For address, unused the Mountainview Google addy. Account # is your 10 digit GV number.
Unlocked your GV number for $3.
Took about 4 hours to xfer, TW called me about 5 minutes after the port request to tell me how the process would happen and it could take up to 2 days to port.
Got a text from TW once port was complete and rebooted the phone before making test call.
Overall effortless process.
Yes, see my datapoint post above.
By the way, does somebody know if I can stop my mint and get some refund? It was 6+6 months deal with galaxy a15 5g phone
