I purchased an open box G4 65" from Best Buy in January. Prior to purchasing, I called Best Buy CS and inquired about the exact condition of each applicable TV in my area. CS was able to provide info on display model (Y/N), when returned, how long used, screen condition, and any missing parts. Based on that info, it was less of a crap shoot and I avoided taking home a unit that I might later return. The TV I got was listed as "fair" but was like new condition with zero hours on the display. Happy hunting!

You might go to Rtings website and do a side by side comparison for all key differences. For me, the G4's increased brightness was needed based on my use case (room with lots of natural light). Other key differences are noted on Rtings as well. Link below.

I guess a couple of things I have seen that makes me wonder
Items graded fair that are really excellent...and vice versa. Which is why for an item like a TV I always suggest someone physically look at it
I have also seen the marked price in the store be LESS than the online open box price
The marked prices are often lower in the Best Buy outlet store near me, additionally they have inventory that is not listed as available on the website
I bought a Samsung QN800C last year at an outlet store and it was not even listed on the Best Buy website as available inventory
