Have had a fridge version now for 3 years, only beef is some filters take forever to filter the water from top to bottom, no matter how much you shake it before installing. I usually fill it up every night before going to bed and im good to go in the morning.
This is the one you're thinking of. The timeframe depends on your municipal's water quality. If the tds is low teens, then you should be good for about 1 year. But if its hard water around 100. You'll be seeing a fraction of that time. I lived in an area where the water tds level was around 10 and I've only changed the filter once every 1.5 years.

Yeah. The bad filter doesn't make water smell though, but it make water taste metallic and acidic.
Lifespan depends on quality of water in your area and how frequent you use the water filter.

Last around 2-3 months in yellow area
Last around 4-6 months in blue area.
Yeap!!!! That's right!!! I have been trying for years now , for honestly, I use it only me and my girlfriend, And usually only good for a month or month and half, have to change it, otherwise tasty like fish!!! And we don't drink that much.
By the way, my tap water TDS around 200 and when the filter tastes like fish usually is like 60 TDS

These filters are very inconsistent in their flow rate, and often need to be shaken to fix. The dual filter design could lead to one filter doing 95% of the filtering while the other remains idle.
This is the only filter I found that reduces the tds to zero when testing the water after it's filtered.
I'd be curious if there is any water filters that use glass, as I've heard having water sit in plastic is not great since that got transferred to the water then goes into your body though. Otherwise I love this water filter
