Right, and I generally only upgrade the gpu on a machine. That's is if I upgrade anything on it before a new build.

I don't think this is a good deal. I got 14700K at Amazon Flash Sale for $210 several weeks ago. It was on this site.

Yes, dead platform, 14th gen was last for the 1700 socket.

If you think like that, z890 might be a dead platform soon also.
Just stating a fact, does not mean you should not build, in fact I am building my first PC based on the 1700.

Agreed. I think people put too much emphasis on CPU upgradability. My previous computer lasted me over ten years (though that was a mac). In my current build the CPU + motherboard is under $300, less than most higher end CPUs alone, and less than 1/3 the cost of total build.
I hope for it to last me 5+ years. If anything I would upgrade the GPU (if the GPU landscape ever reaches some level of price/stock normalization). And by the time I upgrade who knows what CPU/MOBO/RAM/GPU will have as norm- especially with the astounding advancement of AI.
Who knows- in 5 ten years, I may go back to mac.

But is you are of those who upgrade every couple years, or Gaming is your #1 priority, definitely go AMD, they are kicking Intel's butt right now, and the AM5 socket should be supported for a while.

Yeah- only that deal posted at midnight and was sold out before 3am.
Early birds really caught the worm. That is the chip I wanted too, as it's the one 14th gen that had real upgrades, while the rest were just slight improvements over their 13th gen counterparts.
But I don't think I have the patience to wait for another deal like that to pop up again.
For right now, the 14600k is the best price/performance available I have seen for an intel.

Woot sells 13600kf for $150, good deal if you don't care about s*itty games that come with the bundle. Performance difference with previous gen is negligent. Around 3%

How about they keep AC Shadows and I pay them 200 for the CPU? 😂

AM4 lasted like 8 years. You could have started off with a Ryzen 1600 and ended up with a 5800x3d without buying a new mobo and RAM.
