I don't think there's any that allow you to do that. I had the same problem with multiple expensive closures. Especially with Samsung drives.
I figured that was the case, but with how many of these cases get advertised on here, I thought maybe someone hit the jackpot with one. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Only other differences I see are first has an aluminum top and supports SATA, second seems to be all plastic no sata (16.99 version for SATA if you need that). The second one says 'UASP', 'TRIM', and 'S.M.A.R.T.' are supported while the first doesn't. Can anyone that has the first one (current Slickdeals deal) confirm? Apparently in windows defrag, it will have a trim option if it does.

TRIM is a command with the help of which the operating system can tell the solid state drive (SSD) which data blocks are no longer needed and can be deleted, or are marked as free for rewriting...TRIM command to wipe the storage space being erased. This ensures a faster writing speed when new data is stored in that area.

The joke is the more expensive one is terrible, it has a heatsink covered by a plastic cover, which is absurd.
I've only ever bought the nvme only version which supports trim.
Edit: Seems I misread your question. You can and should update the firmware of the enclosure's Realtek controller which fixes a lot of connectivity and compatibility issues.
I think they mean the drive itself.
None of these allow that, you have to directly install into computer to do that.
The fastest trick is to get a cheap $5-10 pci-e to m.2 adapter card to easily swap into a computer.
