This is a great deal for a productivity machine and even for gaming at higher than fhd. 265K overclocks well and gives you lots of extra power if you want/need it. I would personally get faster RAM though, this is where arrow lake shines but reselling this ram and buying some 8000MHz one for about 100$ net more gives you a really great build.
They won't just stop working at that point, if that were to happen. And Intel isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I got the 265k + asrock pro a board bundle last month and it rocks! I think this is not as appealing of a deal as the included ram is mediocre and selling it to buy better stuff will be a bit of a hassle. I went with 48gb of klevv cras v 7200 and it's been great.

The board is a bit better
  • 5gbe vs 2.5gbe nic
  • 2 vs 1 thunderbolt
  • more m.2 heatsinks
  • wifi
  • more full x16 pcie slots with locks if that applies to you
Overall, still a good deal and handily beats the microcenter deal with the no thunderbolt board without having to be near a microcenter.

If the mobo differences don't impress you and you don't want to mess around reselling the ram, the pro-a board bundle (with wifi this time) is still available for $464 then just pickup some faster ram https://www.newegg.com/Product/Co...bo.4772221

It appears the core ultra civ + assassins creed bundle is over, but I think you should get the star wars outlaws freebie for the mobo https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16800985139

not sure why it doesn't show though so no promises

Is this too much wattage for always running for vm workstations (home assistant, 2025 server os and win 11 for testing), windows docker container, and blueiris for 4 cameras?

idle consumption is quite reasonable for what it can ramp up to and will give you plenty of overhead https://www.techpowerup.com/revie...5k/24.html

micro center deals has been a joke tbh. they need to allow you to add better ram and components instead of forcing the parts no one buys into a bundle. not a bad deal

Some managers will let you swap out upgrades for the difference in pricing. Just be nice and ask all they can say is no.

This is especially true if you've got more stuff in the cart. They want to see you walk out with a whole build.

I remember hearing that about AMD many times before over the last 20-30 years as well.
