I'm looking for a pair of monitors for a dedicated laptop desk, but the 1000R kept me away from this. That is too extreme of a curve for a 27" monitor. To match that severe of a curve you would have to sit super close to the monitor which creates additional eye strain and fatigue. Even worse when using two monitors side by side.

27" really doesn't need to be curved for clear viewing. 32" possibly, 34" ultrawide probably, but not 27", and 1000R is way too extreme. It was a trend for a brief moment, until people realized how unpleasant it can be, especially on smaller monitors.
I suspect the reason this is discounted is because of having too severe of a curve. It will be unpleasant for lots of people and just not worth saving a few dollars. Samsung is a good brand for monitors and TV's, and this has good specs, but I would absolutely recommend paying a little more for a version that is not curved, or a different model completely.

You said that you were looking for a pair of monitors. 1000R means a 1000mm radius. In other words, two 27" 1000R side-by-side would be the same as a single 49" 1000R. I have a 49" 1000R and it's perfect for work.
