Three bigger plates are $37 (3x$12.30), and in my opinion family meal is bigger. I always have some leftovers for next day, and that never happened for 3 bigger plates (order for 2 adults and 2 children).

If they give bowls, we all know they load it up with rice, give like 12 pieces of meat, and the rest vegetables. If it is a take out container involving meats and vegetables, they give like a small amount of meat and the rest vegetables. They are as bad as Subway when they portion out everything.

You'll need $120 more to feed 5 persons in restaurant.

Anyone ever order one of these family meals? If so, how big is each entree for the family meal - is it bigger than the standard entree for the plates or bowl?

I'm confused about how they claim the family meal feeds five, but yet you only get to choose two sides and three entrees.

A plate for one person is one side and two entrees, so by their own metric, it would take five sides and ten entrees to feed five people.

How is a family meal of 2 sides + 3 entrees equivalent to 5 sides + 10 entrees?

Each box is the size of a traditional Chinese takeout container. Not bad price compared to real Chinese food but I think 3 bigger plates gives you slightly more and a lot more variety for around the same regular price. There are posts about actual ounces somewhere but they also usually overscoop plates. At $30 this is a decent deal.

I could have sworn I saw some posts showing that 3 bigger plates had more oz by a little but now when I search I see the opposite and you are right. Probably depends how they scoop the plates though.

I tried to do the math on this recently and essentially each large entree is very slightly larger than 3 smalls, like think by 2-3 ounces, but you definitely get less overall sides with the family meal vs doing the 3 plates.

Agreed. It's a decent amount of food. It will feed five people if they are like me but if they are younger or have big appetites, this may feed only 2-3 people. For me, this would feed my wife and me for dinner and we would each get a lunch. Is it a bargain, no. Is it a reasonable deal, yes

Hi there, if it's combinable, does that mean you can use the code "thanksmom" and apply the $8 promo gift card on that same order? Effectively making this deal for $22? ( $30-8). I think it's best to use the $8 promo gift card ASAP since it expires on 07/31.

We usually get three proteins, two mixed vegetables, and we make our own steamed rice. It will feed a family of 5 with leftovers. In this economy, it's nice to be able to feed 5 people for $30.

I see why not. It's a gift card and the other is a promo code.
