I've had this printer for a good 5-6 years and it's been FANTASTIC. I run generic toner in it and it works just fine. I'm tempted to buy another at this price, but feel like there plenty of life left in my current one. Also of note, I've bought many things from VIP over the years and they've all been legit and exactly as described.
I've had this printer for three years or so and it's a complete abomination. Generic toner prints with horrible quality, it rarely connects wirelessly with my phone or computer and the interface is garbage. Was literally shopping to replace this printer yesterday. Avoid
Bought this in 2020 for dang near the same price. This is a dumpster fire printer and would not recommend it at all.

Same exact experience for me.
Did you check for firmware updates and apply them?
My 634Cdw had a problem of waking up for printing and Airplay and I just had to manually wake it up before printing, but after a bunch of firmware updates, the issue no longer exists.

I have a 641 as well. In four years of owning it, it has not stayed connected on my network for more than 48 hours. And that's being wired on Ethernet too. I'd avoid Canon printers at all costs. My Brother printer works flawlessly by contrast.
Mine had the same issue, wirelessly. A bunch of firmware updates fixed it. You can update firmware directly from the printer touchscreen.

Right. And that's what I heard as well. I own a brother printer similar printer( HLL-3290CDW) that takes generic toner. I've never had issues so far. But in case you update the firmware, a factory reset will help revert back to the original state.
I've tried the reset on multiple Brother printers I have. It won't revert the firmware once you've updated it which means it's OEM toner from the firmware update on.

Thanks. I ended up going through VIP Outlet directly due to a little bit of cashback.

Well, I had this thing sitting in a closet cause I was frustrated with it, and I couldn't bring myself to trash it. Thanks for the reply - I just did a factory reset, then upgraded the firmware. I'll see if the wireless issues persist - I should know in a day or two.

Separate issue:

The printing is extra streaky because i'm using aftermarket toner - maybe just got a bad egg. If the wireless issue goes away, then I'll try buying another set of aftermarket toner. IMO this printer isn't worth buying genuine canon toner at $300/set. The toner that came with the printer only lasted about 7 months.

I'm running an epson ecotank as my main printer now, and have been extremely impressed with the software and design of this printer. However, as an inkjet, it can't quite match the quality of the canon at its best.

Thanks again for the help - I'll update in a week Smilie

The ADF (automatic document feeder) is malfunctioning after about six months. it's still functional, but it tilts the paper a little bit and damages the paper that it is scanning.
Has anyone faced a similar issue and know a fix?

I concur with these sentiments. Mine has been flakey since I purchased it. Has a particularly tough time maintaining WiFi connection
