Dang, thanks for pointing this out, wish it was a better UPS..
Me too but it seems to be working well enough with a AMETEK ESP XG-PCS-15D surge protector. There's more info on it in the reddit thread. A bit of a PITA to get one and configure it (if you want) but so far the 2 together seem to be doing their jobs and I've bought 3 River 3 Plus units (last one was the Costco deal). I need to stop now!

These Costco unique versions are awesome. Wife immediately loves the snap in portable power banks for phones. I have time of use eletricity plan, so I have these river units charge at night when power is cheap and they charge/power random stuff during the day.

Make sure you register the individual battery packs in addition to the unit itself. The SNs are under the kickstands, if you have a good enough camera you can scan the tiny QR codes. It's 1000 points per device registration, so 3000 alone from this, at 6000pts you get their 'Plus' status which gives free advanced returns. If you got in on the Renogy Deal the 200/220w panel works great with this, make sure you get XT60i cables, the 'i' variant is important as there's a 3rd pin that's shorted to the neutral which lets the device draw at a higher amperage.

I just picked one up. I'm really disappointed in the fact that the USB C port isn't an in/out port. Nowhere in the instructions does it say you can charge it using a USB C cable. I feel that should have been a must. Especially since it's a 100W output. Why can't it have an 85W to 100W input.

Isn't the amount of savings negligible since it's less than a 1/4 kwh due to charging loss?

Is this a good value for just general backup for short black outs? Not looking to power the entire house or appliances, just keep to charge phones, tablets, lights during a black out over a few days if necessary.

Do they test these at the manufacturing plant? Because im seeing some lifetime usage on the AC and DC ports. Yet I haven't used it yet. Plus im seeing lifetime charge from Solar yet I dont have a solar panel.

Depending on how many devices you need to charge, it wont last multiple days. Tablets do suck alot of capacity out of it. You may want a bigger Delta for a few days for devices. Not sure why you need tablets during a black out though since your internet would be dead. For phones should be fine. Also it has a LED light bar on the bottom of the front panel.

It charges up to 500w .... why ould you want to charge it via USB-C. No one nor Ecoflow said it can be charged via USB-C. Manual says AC cable, or the X60ti port.

Tablet is mostly for downloaded books and shows but not really necessary. I guess probably best to just stick with charging phones. Probably 4 phones at most for a few days is what I'm mostly looking for. Might also pick up a small solar panel just in case.

Because I always have a USB C charger and cable but I don't always need to charge it up at full speed (which is actually only 380watts if you don't have the extended battery unit)
Having a USB C in/out port is very beneficial.
Example: if I'm using it for travel and end up using way more battery than expected. A 100W USB C input can help you get back enough energy overnight without having to carry an extra bulky cable or if you forgot your cable when traveling.
I'm just saying why not include that as an option.

also I never said it did have it. im saying its disappointing it doesn't. big difference

This is a 10lb power bank and you worried about bulk of cable? You not taking this in a backpack to your office or on a plane. Its for camping (ie the solar panel port). Real uses case is a road trip, you leave the included cig port->xt60i cable in your car to splash it while driving or plug in a solar panel on the camp site. Outside a road trip, it stays in your house to use for whatever reason.

I knew you'd make a comment about the weight of the unit compared to the bulk of the cable.
Plain and simple every time I want to take this unit with me on a road trip. I dont want to have to bring the cable with me every time. Especially since the cable is used at home to charge the unit up and then gets put away as I do not need to charge it every day. Let alone once a week. So when I grab and go on a trip......
Oh never mind
You may not care but I'm disappointed in it not being a USB C in/out port. Missed opportunity
