They send some folks refurbs, which is acceptable under the terms of their warranty.
This was a brand-new TV, so I can't speak to that really... I just know my experience

That's great that they took care of you when you were in warranty. I'm just relaying something I read on avsforum in the owners threads that stuck out to me. Like I wouldn't really like if they sent me a refurb as a warranty replacement for a new TV if that happened to me (!) but then again I tend to spring for the extended warranty so would have other avenues with geek squad/all state/CC benefits and the like. That said LG and god forbid Samsung aren't any better when it comes to CS so it's just an industry wide problem where they sometimes treat people poorly. I wouldn't say Sony is worse but there are concerning things that have happened like those who's TV were bricked by Sony's firmware updates and Sony told them to pound sand because they were out of warranty (wtf). It's an uneven at best history with all of these companies so the consumer has to protect themselves as best they can. Anyway Sony and LG (OLEDs) are pretty solid and Hisense has a rep to quickly replace a TV if you have a warranty issue so I'd probably stick to those brands, depending on what I was looking for, and with the benefit of an extended warranty since QC is all over the place these days.
