Especially for a string cutter. Otherwise the cord will come in between and get cut or at minimum nicked, sooner or later.

Never tried a battery string trimmer. I prefer gas so far. Perhaps I'm a tad jaded as I see what my drill and saw does to batteries

They work perfectly fine and no more trips to the gas station when you're trying to get stuff done. These handle better than a gasser and don't seem to have any performance downside compared to my old weedwacker.
