I agree stands are very handy with these.

What is different between the 779 and 780 if y'all know right off hand? Thanks

Cut line is the major one, which to anyone skilled with a miter saw knows it's not a make or break option. Been using the 779 for the better part of a decade now and never once felt like I was missing out on that functionality (plus, if I wanted it, they sell kits to swap out the handle for one with the xps positioning on it)

If you want a stand, none of these come with a good stand anyways so buy a good one instead.

For those that want the shadow line, you can add it to the 779 (basically making it an 780). I did this to my 779 and I really like having the shadow line. Could I do without it, sure, but it does help in lining up the cut.

I got tired of waiting for the 780 (which is obviously the better model) and got a BOSCH miter instead with a Lowe's deal, that does the same on battery

The stand is always the measure if this item is a good deal or not. If you don't see the stand, the deal is always blah.

As the owner of the 780, I really like the shadow cut line. Had to cut a ton of angles to build trusses over the last couple weeks, and it was a big time saver and a worthwhile convenience. I will always look for that feature on future saws, and if you plan to do a lot of cutting, recommend holding out for a deal on the 780 model.

I think they meant the multi level stand. The really nice one.

The combo's with the stand usually only include the basic stand that is barely able to hold this saw safely. I used it, and it was horribly unstable. The heavy duty one is better, but still not great. The 726 rolling saw stand is infinitely better and more stable (and more mobile).

Yessir, the 726. That is combo'd in at times which makes the deal pretty slick. That's the one many hold out for.
