My credit karma score is 716, so i went ahead and applied but got declined instantly. I think it is because my income is under $13k due to still going to school and working for my parents i.e. Get paid cash, no monthly check.

I put in a request for a $1000 increase on my current CC. Hopefully that gets approved so i can buy a laptop for school.
You could ask them to reconsider, but 716 is probably on the low side for approval.

Also, you should know that they have to take your word for your income. I don't know about that particular app but they usually ask for "household" income.

Does anyone have any recommendations for applying for a business card for personal use? I'm looking to add a Chase Ink card to my stable which includes an Amex Blue Cash, Penfed Platinum Rewards, and Chase Freedom. I applied for the Chase Freedom card over a year ago and was approved instantly.

I have a business I could apply the Chase Ink to, but I want it for personal reasons.

Thanks

What I are you going to use the points for? Chase ink bold is a charge card and the ink plus is a traditional credit card. Do you mind paying off balance in full every month?

Some say it's better to get the bold first so you can call later and tell chase u need to change to the ink plus for the ability to pay balance over time.

I don't carry any balances on my curent cards and would plan on it being paid off every month.

What's the best way to apply for it without a business? I've read that they can/will ask for tax documents to prove you have a business. I just want it for 5% at office supply stores (for gift card buying) and putting all of my phone/internet/cable bills on it for 5% off plus the nice signing bonus.

Thanks

I got the letter that tells my why i was denied. My FICO score on the letter says it was 742 at the time of applying but was denied because of low limits on my current cards, which is only $300. I guess ill try again in a year, too bad they did a hard pull on my credit.

Good news is that I was approved for the US Bank Cash+ with a limit of $5000. Smilie

So for now SCREW AMERICAN EXPRESS!

you could still ask them to reconsider (usually there's a department just for that), especially considering the new $5000 limit kinda negates the reason for declining you.

Since none of my usual cards have good travel benefits, I just applied for and received the Hilton HHonors Card from American Express. I'm supposed to get a 50,000-point bonus if I spend $750 in the first three months. Well, I happened to have a $750 bill sitting around, so I paid it with the card and met the threshold in about 24 hours.

My question is this: It says it'll take about 6-8 weeks after I meet the spending threshold for the points to credit. Anyone know if that's 6-8 weeks from when I spend the money, or from the statement closing date, or from when I pay the bill? I was thinking about going ahead and paying it online right now if that will speed up the arrival of my points.

I don't think I've ever signed up for a card with a bonus before, or if I have it's been years, so I wasn't sure how it worked.

No idea about that card but my Chase Freedom said 6-8 weeks for their bonus and it posted on my first statement (I spent over $500 right when I got it and my first generated statement a month later had the bonus points on it).

I have this card, the points posted on the first statement after I cleared the spend.

Update: I decided to go ahead and try paying in advance, and did it late Saturday. I just logged in to my account, and the 50K points have appeared!

I did not get the regular points for the dollars I spent yet, so perhaps those post at statement's closing regardless of payment.

Depends on when the statement closes in relation to the gas purchase date, I would guess anywhere between 3-7 weeks to payoff your gas purchase (7 weeks if you purchase gas right after last statement closed, 3 weeks if you purchase just before current statement closed).

I'm not really sure I understand your question though.

each statement comes with a due date. if you pay in full before due date, no interest.

due date is 20-25 days after statement closing date
