This is a better deal for same performance

I know I would have been happy with either though! This was on the deal the other day. It should be here any day now 😁
The Pocket Mini could have been the perfect device if they didn't have the screen fiasco. It has the same power as the Pocket 5 and will play basically every 4:3 console. I have the original mini and I got the kit they released to switch out the screen and I deeply regret swapping the screen. I just don't like the square screen for many different reasons.
Maybe someday they will release a 477m in a shell similar to the 406h
I Guess now I need another deal on micro sd cards

It's the same reason why, before the KONKR Fit, so many Ayaneo devices felt like such a waste of money.
I also just don't really like tiny screens so I'm definitely biased there.
As for the 477M, I was so excited when they were teasing it and I really like watching all the reviews of it but I agree the ergonomics looks like total ass. I don't like the flat slab style devices for the sake of portability. I think, even if a device is "pocketable", realistically, only like 10% of users are actually going to put it in their pocket, haha. But I guess having something slim to slide into a little pocket of your bag is really appealing to plenty of people so...🤷
I'm finding that comfort and ease of use is really important to me with these kinds of devices. I'm currently working with an old Galaxy S20FE that I bought to be a dedicated emulation device and an 8bitdo Ultimate mobile controller. So it's insanely comfortable and pretty much has the same specs as a Retroid Pocket 5...BUT even just taking the phone out and having to slip it into the mobile controller, take it out to charge, etc. is starting to feel tedious. Which is why I jumped on the 406H after I saw the deal.
That's a long winded way of saying I agree with you, haha. These kinds of things matter (re: 477M)

What I'm getting at is you have a device POWERFUL enough for Switch emulation and such a small screen, seems like wasted performance. For GameCube and PS2 in particular, the RP5/mini is capable of running MOST PS2 games at a 3x resolution (for example). In my personal opinion, 3x resolution on a sub 4" screen feels pointless to me. If I was getting a smaller device for PS2/cube, I'd rather it have solid 2x performance and be a little cheaper with even better battery life. I also understand that devices like the RP Mini just aren't for me and that's fine.
