Have had the 256GB version with 8GB RAM for over a year and a half and have never found it to be slow.

I have been looking for a tablet for an older family member. But every deal thread for this model is full of complaints that it's slow. Costco has the 64GB version with book cover for $160. The Costco model has only 4GB of RAM. Would the 256GB version perform better with its 8GB of RAM?

iPad base model, go back one generation. That can't be beat for an entry level tablet for the price.

For an old person going to facebook they could probably use a kindle or whatever the cheapies are. 😅. The argument about the Samsung A series being garbage is that it's high end Samsung prices. If you need a Samsung; for $100 more you get a bunch more. 4gb ram is terrible for anything other than clock an web browser type stuff because the OS and all that will use most the 4gb in the background.I haven't rushed to get another android tablet cause they are all garbage below the samsung non a, series. I wasn't even mad when my last broke in a week cause it pissed me off so much browsing YouTube like I was on dial up pentium celeron computers. There isn't really much a market for tablets; so not much choice. It's pretty gimmicky and for people who can use them for work; or people who have to have everything sold on tv . Even some of the worst small laptops are usually far beyond these

LincPlus T3 is 69$ used and 89$ new which is arguably much faster even with the similar processor due to the 8gb of ram. I got one a year ago and still working to this day. Only complaints are the VERY BUGGY ORIENTATION CONTROL but I solved that by installing orrientation control apps and no biometrics unlock.

I had the 4GB model and have the 8GB model. Using the A9+ with 8GB is a MUCH better experience.

i got the 8gb model last year for $131, and while it's not the absolute slowest tablet around... it's still pretty slow n laggy. i can only describe this as the fastest slow tablet.

at $200, this is not worth it. ipads will perform better and be more compatible overall just for a bit more

if you absolutely need more storage, get the FE level. performance and screen are better

if you're getting this for someone that just needs a screen to watch, wait for lower pricing or other deals for less known tablets at more competitive pricing

Same here. I can't recommend buying this. The tablet has a sd slot, so no point paying more for the 256gb version. The 128gb version also has 8gb ram. Forget about gaming on this tablet, so you will never run out of storage, lol.

Honestly, just don't buy it. I only use mine to check robinhood when I'm not using my pc.
Tried to use it as a retro device, but it struggles with ps2 and GameCube.

I wouldn't pay more than $120 for it now. Being a very slow to charge unit, you need to plug it in and forget about it. Then you will see that it has charged. It is like waiting for the paint to dry in the can before you discard the can. This is a 2022 model and will be out of updates in a year or so. Newer model will charge faster. Its replacement has been announced and will be in stores soon, it is called A11+
Here is link about the new model, it is already out in Europe:

The 8GB ram tablet is fine for the occasional screen time for the kids to stream a show, as well as browsing the web for a quick search and streaming a smart camera. I had low expectations coming from an older Surface Pro being used as a wired streaming device. After reviewing ALOT of chromebooks, tablets, and low-end laptops, I landed on this. I have the A9+ encased in an embarrassingly cheap cover from Amazon which has saved it countless times already. Picture quality from the cameras are terrible but is good enough when a Google Meet call pops up. Larger screen size, for the kids to say hi to grandparents or little cousins, is the only reason I use this over my Galaxy S24 Ultra and Pixel 10 Pro. Based on my use case and experience I am very relieved I didnt get the 4GB ram version, but would've bought the 128GB storage if available at the time of purchase. Do you need an extra screen (but not a workhorse) by tomorrow for around $200? This is acceptable. To replace a broken laptop that was heavily used, you need to be searching in the $450 range minimum. If you want it to function at the A9+ level after 5yrs, your minimum is around $800+.

Sadly, grabbed this from Walmart for $10 more and less storage already for Xmas. My previous Samsung tablets battery failed after three years and one heavy use weekend, battery inflated. I went the cheap no-name tablet route after, it can't play video in half the steaming apps and is basically only good for YouTube and downloaded files, so I'm ok with my Samsung purchase again.
