I've yet to find one that doesn't off gas horrible chemical smell for a really long time. Some are oily as well. Just be cautious. Not as important for people who workout in the garage but for people inside something to consider.

I bought these last year, I sprayed each down with a bit of dishsoap and vinegar and gave them a proper cleaning and fully dried off. Not much of a gas smell and no rust so far.

Usually the price is 1
$1 per pound. Good deal is 50 cents per pound. This is actually a great deal. If they include a rack it would be a steal!!

This set with a-frame rack goes on sale often for $100-130, at least it has several times over the last year. It's not on sale right now but seems to cycle monthly.

Here's one with a-frame for $146. https://a.co/d/08nf1PA

I've had a set of these for over a year now. Mine didn't have that strong of a gas off chemical smell and the little they had dissipated quickly. Though I imagine that really will vary with these, so just be sure to keep that in mind. Overall they've been great dumbbells. I prefer using these hex shape dumbbells when doing dumbbell push-ups, push-up rows, etc. Also when you set them down they won't accidentally start rolling away from you. If you're concerned about the smell or really constrained on space, can consider Bowflex SelectTechs 552 dumbbells. I've had a set since 2021 that's been rocksolid and never had any issues. Much more expensive of course, but they give you the option of selecting the weight between 5-52.5 lbs. So if you're buying both of these Hex dumbbells sets you are getting close to the cost of a set of SelectTechs. Just something to keep and mind and consider if you're just starting to buy dumbbells for your workouts or putting together a home gym.

Although a pain, reselling weights on local market places seem to go for $1/lb and retain their value well. So if you did get the 300lb kit, you could probably recoup a bulk of the cost with a little effort, especially with the holiday season coming up and people buying more.

Powerblocks feel Soooo much better than Selectechs and are smaller. You'll see a ton of select tech on Facebook marketplace right now because bow flex recalled them as they were dropping plates. If you got to get them get them on there but most of the time they don't have trays with them. Even though power blocks look really weird they feel so much better in the hand

This is good to hear! I've always wondered about the Powerblocks and have considered them a few times. I've seen similar comments before with positive experiences.

+1 for SelectTechs. Had the 52.5's forever and they've been great, especially when there isn't room for a full set like this post. There is something to be said for a solid dumbbell that can be dropped or set down without lining it up in a special rack.

My friend preferred SelectTech hand feel but went with the blocks that weren't limited to 50-lb. I think Powerblock go up to 90. - Forgot to say he has no complaints with the Powerblocks
