I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not - I'm pretty sure this came out with the original iMac that were all the different colors. Somewhere around 2000 I think

hard to believe that HK is still making this design that first came out in the 1980's with the Apple IIgs.

I still have my original soundsticks. They remain some of the best desktop speakers I've heard. My wife bought a set of steel series speakers for her gaming setup thinking they would be an upgrade from the 20yr old sound sticks… she quickly returned them. They sounded like utter doo-doo compared to them. I can only hope the sound quality has increased and the body construction has improved.

Love the design on these, had the Sound stick 2 for years but ended up replacing mine with a Sonos Playbar mostly because it fits the space better

These (gen 4) came out in 2021.

You're right the first ones came out almost exactly 25 years ago. I still have the originals, but they are definitely struggling.

I bought the III's in 21 when they went on sale for 99 bucks. They are very. Very good for the price and if this series is as good as the 3's then even at 200 they are worth it.
